Ayushmann Khurrana & Vicky Kaushal Trolled For Giving 'PR' Driven Statements On Jamia Protests
Ayushmann Khurrana-Vicky Kaushal Get Trolled For 'PR' Driven Messages On Jamia Protests!
There was a scene in this year's movie Article 15 where Ayushmann Khurrana, who plays a cop takes a stand against injustice and says "Staying neutral when a fire is raging, is standing with the ones who lit it..". Well, these lines look absolutely ironical as Ayushmann Khurrana's take on Jamia protests is being labeled as 'safe'.
How's the Josh? asked several fans, questioning the silence of actors like Vicky Kaushal, who featured in Uri and also shared the national award with Ayushmann Khurrana.
These are the stars who were spotted posing with PM Modi in their 'glorious' selfie that did rounds this year on the internet!
You must be living under a rock if you are unaware of the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019, that began in Assam and Bengal. Sunday night was a tough one for students of Jamia Millia Islamia, as the protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) turned violent in the capital.
Jamia campus had turned into a warzone as police entered the campus and used force, following a violent protest against the law. Close to 50 detained students of Jamia were released on Monday even as the situation in the campus remained tense with scores of hostel students leaving for home.
Delhi Police went on to claim that they showed ¡®maximum restraint despite provocations¡¯ during Sunday¡¯s protest, even as the Opposition demanded a judicial inquiry into the police action at Jamia Millia.
Police brutality became an idea of debate and discussion on the internet with several Bollywood stars joining the club and expressing their opinion. After a long phase of silence, National Award-winning actors, Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal finally took time out to 'express' their opinions but the Internet isn't too pleased!
Taking to Twitter Ayushmann wrote,

"Deeply disturbed about what the students went through and I strongly condemn this. All of us have the right to protest and exercise our fundamental freedom of expression. However, protests also cannot turn violent and lead to destruction of public property. That simply is counterproductive. Dear countrymen, this is the land of Gandhi. Ahimsa is and should be the tool to express. Have faith in democracy."
Vicky Kaushal too supported the students and condemned the violence. He wrote,
What is happening is not okay. The way it¡¯s happening is not okay. People have every right to peacefully voice their opinion. This violence and disruption is both saddening and concerning as a fellow citizen. In no circumstance, must our faith in democracy be shaken. ??

After their prolonged silence over Police brutality, their messages lacked intent and purpose. People pointed out that it's difficult to analyze which side they're on.
Fans accused them of pushing out PR-driven messages that didn't have a heart!
Instead of How's the Josh, must ask him Where's The Josh?!

A "democracy" where leading actors are forced to pose with the PM for favours. You do what you do best - take pics with the enablers. Leave protests to the students please.

Yesterday, Vir Das too pointed out at 'spineless' film industry that will find any and every opportunity to make a film on 'issues' and 'heroic fights and people' but will lack the courage to stand up for people or take a real stand!
