Brahmastra: Bajrang Dal Activists Stop Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt From Entering Ujjain Temple Over Beef Comment
Bajrang Dal Activists allegedly stopped Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt from entering Ujjain temple over beef and gau mutra statements. They were there to take blessings ahead of Brahmastra release.
Adding to the misery of the boycott trend - which has led to many Bollywood films' poor performance at the box office - Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra is facing another hurdle.
Bajrang Dal activists on Tuesday stopped the star couple from entering Ujjain's Mahakal temple.
Ranbir and Alia had visited the temple to take blessing ahead of the release of their movie on Sep 9. Videos of Police charging at the protestors went viral on social media. Commenting on the situation, Ujjain CSP Om Prakash Mishra was quoted as saying by ANI, "We were making arrangements as some VIPs were about to visit Mahakaleshwar temple. During which some people started gathering here to protest against them. One of the protestors started fighting with police officers."

Following the protest, the Police have taken action under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code against a right-wing activist.
On the other side, in the video that has gone viral, Bajrang Dal activists say they were peacefully protesting against Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt showing black flags. However, police started cane-charging them.

"We are protesting against Ranbir Kapoor and won't let him enter the Mahakal temple. He made derogatory statements against our gaumata. He had said eating beef is good," an activist said.
As per a report on PTI, the Bajrang Dal activists chanted "Jai Shriram" slogans as the Brahmastra stars arrived.

What did Ranbir Kapoor say about beef?
In a 2011 interview - from Rockstar promotions - that has now gone viral on the internet, Kapoor said, "My family is from Peshawar, so a lot of Peshawari food has come with them. I am a mutton, paya, and beef fan. Yeah, I am a big beef fan".

Meanwhile, fans have also been requesting RRR and Baahubali fame director SS Rajamouli to not promote Brahmastra. A fan commented, "Please dont supposr Bullywood. U hv earned a good name so dont ruin it by associating with Bullywood. #BoycottBollwood will continue.. And yes, #BoycottBramhastra ? too". "We love Rajamouli¡¯s movies but that doesn¡¯t mean we will fall for this back door stunt by @karanjohar," a Twitter user said.
