Censor Board Orders 2 Cuts In 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', Scene Referring To Jawaharlal Nehru Modified
Censor Board has asked for two cuts and two modifications in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt. Scene showing Jawaharlal Nehru embedding a rose on Gangubai has been modified.
The book Mafia Queens of Mumbai mentions Gangubai Kathiawadi's interaction with former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
It is said that when the brothel owner was delivering a speech during woman empowerment summit, she shed light on the need for prostitution belts in cities. Gangubai's speech made waves all over the nation, so much so that she got to meet Nehru. He was so impressed with her speech that he asked her why she chose this work when she could have found a nice husband.
In her response, Gangubai asked the PM if he would marry her, thus telling him that it is easier to preach, tough to practice.
Based on the book is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's forthcoming movie starring Alia Bhatt as Gangubai Kathiawadi. The film which is all set to be released on Feb 25 has been ordered four cuts and modifications by the Censor Board.
