A man who was accused of sexual harassment by not one or two but nine women is now a contestant on the most popular reality TV show in the country. Of course, everyone is enraged. The channel remains mum on the entire hoopla while one of the victims Mandana Karimi has decided to quit Bollywood.
Taking a stand for these women, Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal wrote to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur seeking Sajid Khan's removal from the show.
In turn, she is now getting rape threats.
Maliwal revealed on Twitter that she has been getting rape threats on Instagram ever since she sought Khan's removal from Bigg Boss 16.
"Ever since I wrote a letter to the I and B minister to get #SajidKhan out of Bigg Boss, I have been receiving rape threats on Instagram. Obviously, they want to stop this."

Imagine what those without this power go through. Horrible. https://t.co/MQbbjLUxrS
Earlier, Swati Maliwal had revealed on Twitter that she has appealed to I&B Ministry about Me Too accused Sajid Khan.
She tweeted in Hindi, "Ten women had accused Sajid Khan of sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement. All these complaints show the disgusting mentality of Sajid. Now, this man has been given a place in Bigg Boss, which is wrong. I have written to @ianuragthakur to have Sajid Khan removed from this show".
I urge @BiggBoss to remove #SajidKhan (#MeToo accused)from the show. @ColorsTV please do right by the brave women, instead of chasing TRPs #EvictSajidKhan Sign: https://t.co/M96TViBGQl

She also shared the letter in which she wrote, "As the complaints against him reveal, it appears that Khan has acted as a sexual predator for a long time. Clearly, it is inappropriate for an alleged sexual offender such as Sajid Khan to be included in a primetime show which is watched by adults and children alike. This apparently gives him an undue opportunity to whitewash his wrongs and be re-launched amongst Indian audiences."
Dear @justvoot @ColorsTV - 9 woman spoke out on sexual abuse and harassment by Sajid Khan - including violations like flashing his penis - why is he platformed by you in utter contempt of what so many women fee ?

She also wrote that despite the controversy, the makers have refused to remove him owing to the TRPs. "The allegations against Sajid Khan are extremely serious in nature and should be investigated at the earliest. Under no circumstances such alleged sexual offenders should be promoted on national television and OTT platforms".

"It also disrespects and invalidates those women who spoke out against his inappropriate sexual advances. They are upcoming celebrities in Bollywood and risked their careers to come forward and complain against abuse by an authority figure," she added.
