Ekta Kapoor Supports Aamir Khan Amid Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha Trend, Calls Him A 'Legend'
TV and film producer Ekta Kapoor is the latest to have come out in support of the PK actor Laal Singh Chaddha which is an official Hindi remake of the Oscar-winning Hollywood movie Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks released theatrically on August 11 which also marked Raksha Bandhan this year. The film helmed by Advait Chandan landed in a massive controversy due to several reasons including - casting of Mona Singh as Aamir Khans mother.
As many continue to call for boycott of Aamir Khan's new movie Laal Singh Chaddha, television and film producer Ekta Kapoor is the latest to have come out in support of the PK actor.
Laal Singh Chaddha, which is an official Hindi remake of the Oscar-winning Hollywood movie Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks, released theatrically on August 11, which also marked Raksha Bandhan this year.
The film helmed by Advait Chandan landed in a massive controversy due to several reasons including - casting of Mona Singh as Aamir Khan's mother prior to its release. 'Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha' went on to trend on social media and the film failed to rake in money despite running for five days.
Now, reacting to calls for a boycott against the much-talked-about film, Ekta Kapoor has expressed that it's strange that people are boycotting those who have given the best business in the film industry. She said that all the Khans in Bollywood, especially Aamir Khan, are legends.
"It is so strange we are boycotting the very people who have given the best of business in the industry. All the Khans in the industry (Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan), and especially Aamir Khan are legends. We cannot boycott them. Aamir Khan can never be boycotted, the soft ambassador Aamir Khan can not be boycotted," Ekta told Navbharat Times while speaking of Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha.
Amid the boycott calls and protests against Aamir Khan's film Laal Singh Chaddha, a Delhi-based lawyer had even filed a complaint against Taare Zameen Par actor Aamir Khan, the producers (Paramount Pictures) among others for allegedly ¡®disrespecting the Indian Army and hurting Hindu Sentiments¡¯ in the latest movie.
Apart from Aamir Khan and Mona Singh, Kareena Kapoor and Naga Chaitanya also plays key roles in the remake of 1994 Hollywood film.
Earlier, ahead of the film's release, Aamir Khan had responded to the boycott calls during a press conference and stated that he regrets if he has hurt anyone ¡®by any means.¡¯ The Lagaan actor said that many people have worked for the film and urged people to watch his movie.
