'No Money Lost', Laal Singh Chaddha Makers On Reports Of Distributors Asking For Compensation
Laal Singh Chaddha makers responds to 'baseless' rumours about Aamir Khan's film, says 'no money is lost.'
After going through much trouble due to the boycott trend in Bollywood, Aamir Khan's latest film Laal Singh Chaddha hit theatres on August 11. Being Aamir Khan's first outing after his four-year hiatus and backed by a major studio (Viacom 18), Laal Singh Chaddha was expected to knock it out of the park in terms of box office collections.
However, unlike Aamir Khan's previous movies, Laal Singh Chaddha failed to rake in money despite running for five days. It has collected merely Rs Rs. 46.25 crore since its theatrical release, as per reports.

Moreover, some reports have claimed that certain distributors of the film are facing losses and have asked the film's producers to compensate them for suffering heavy losses.
Now, the makers of the film Laal Singh Chaddha have responded to these reports.
Responding to the rumours, Ajit Andhare, the Chief Executive Officer of Viacom 18 told ETimes, ¡°There are no external distributors, it's being distributed by V18Studios, and no money is lost in the first place. The film is still running in theaters both in India and internationally. This is baseless speculation.¡±

Laal Singh Chaddha was released on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and it also clashed with Akshay Kumar's film Raksha Bandhan. The film earned an underwhelming Rs. 38 crore at the domestic box office in four days.
Insiders from the industry have said that Laal Singh Chaddha may not even join the Rs 100-crore club, which is something Aamir Khan's films have always managed to achieve in the last 15 years. Laal Singh Chaddha has been helmed by Advait Chandan.

It is an official Hindi remake of the 1994 Hollywood movie Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks in the lead role. The Hindi remake stars Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya apart from Aamir Khan reprising Tom Hanks' character. Laal Singh Chaddha has faced criticism for acting and its screenplay while critics gave mixed reviews.
Sections of the people including Indian-origin cricketer Monty Panesar have even called for boycott of Laal Singh Chaddha on social media.

Calling the film a 'disgrace' to Indian Army, Monty Panesar wrote on Twitter, ¡°Forrest Gump fits in the US Army because the US was recruiting low IQ men to meet requirements for the Vietnam War. This movie is total disgrace to India Armed Forces Indian Army and Sikhs !! Disrespectful. Disgraceful.¡±
