From 'Mitran Di Chatri' To Human, Kirti Kulhari Is Proving Her Versatility, One Role At A Time

Before she ventured into the world of films and web series, she featured in some popular songs like Junoon by singer Abhijeet Sawant and Hik Vich Jaan by Gippy Grewal.
Kirti Kulhari started her career with television commercials.
After learning the art of acting via theatre, she did a number of commercials including Everyuth Face Wash, Whirlpool Refrigerators, Spice Mobile, Virgin Mobiles, Videocon Air Conditioners, Parachute Gorgeous Hamesha Campaign, ICICI Bank, Kaya Skin Clinic, Taj Mahal Tea.
She was seen alongside actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgn and Kajol.
She was the face of beauty brand Nivea Visage Sparkling Glow's face campaign for two years. She was seen alongside actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgn and Kajol.
And then she did a few music videos before she ventured into the world of films. She made her debut in films with an Odia film Dharini in 2002. She made her debut in Bollywood with Khichdi: The Movie in which she played the role of Parminder 'Pammi' Kaur. But the role that brought her to notice was her second film Shaitaan, in 2011, a brilliant crime thriller produced by Anurag Kashyap.
Kirti Kulhari's breakthrough role was Falak Ali in Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu-starrer Pink, who is one of the three women facing assault charges after being molested by men. In the same year, Kirti married actor Saahil Sehgal.
After the grand success of the film, she bagged some meatier roles and proved her versatility one after the other.

She was next seen in Madhur Bhandarkar's political thriller Indu Sarkar, in which she played the titular role of Indu, a poet and writer, who fights against the Emergency.
Being an outsider who made her own way into films, she once said, "It¡¯s still difficult for outsiders in mainstream films. You will not find outsiders getting main, important roles in big films. The difficult part is to meet the right people."
She was a part of Blackmail, a dark comedy starring Irrfan Khan. In the film, she plays the role of Khan's wife. In her next film, Uri: The Surgical Strike that made Vicky Kaushal a star, she played the role of role of an Indian Air Force officer Seerat Kaur.
Her next film was Independence Day release, Mission Mangal, based on true events of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launching the Mars Orbiter Mission Mangalyaan.
In the film, she starred alongside Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sharman Joshi, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, and Nitya Menon. "People have this concept of lead and second lead because they see the hierarchy or stardom of an actor. To me, I was the lead in Mission Mangal. Yes, I am sharing that space with four other women, but I am still the lead,¡± she told Mid-Day.
In 2019, she won an award, Filmfare Jury Award, for the Best Female Actor in a Short film for her performance in Maya.
In the same year, she also made her OTT debut with immensely popular web series - Four More Shots Please! on Amazon Prime Video and Bard of Blood on Netflix.
Just when her career was flourishing, the pandemic hit the world. In 2020, she earned praises from critics as well audiences for her role in Criminal Justice: Behind the Closed Doors, a Hotstar show that also starred Pankaj Tripathi.
Last year, she was seen in The Girl on the Train in another distinct role of a cop Dalbir Kaur Bagga. Her impeccable performance will stay with you for long, despite the film being average. She was also seen in Shaadisthan, a film based on the lives of three women from different generations.
In the same year, in her personal life, she took a big step when she announced separation from husband Saahil Sehgal. "Not on paper, but in life. A decision that is probably harder than the decision of being with somebody, because coming together is celebrated by everyone you love and care about. And the decision of not being with somebody brings along pain and hurt to the same people. It¡¯s not easy," she wrote.
The extremely talented Kirti Kulhari has proved her mettle, one film at a time. She is currently being seen in Disney+Hotstar's Human, a medical thriller with a well written script. The actress plays one of the lead roles of Dr Saira Sabharwal. The show digs deep into the world of pharmaceuticals and drug testing on humans. She along with Shefali Shah are both winning applause for their earnest performances.
