Former BJP Ally And Punjab MP Supports Singer Shubh Amid Row
As Punjabi-Canadian singer Shubh's distorted Indian map controversy uproars, Punjab MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal supports him.
Punjabi-Canadian singer Shubh¡¯s distorted map row has divided the country into various debates about who¡¯s right and what¡¯s wrong. While several people have called Shubh¡¯s act ¡®anti-nationalist¡¯, some say that it¡¯s a conspiracy against him. Amid all of this, a former ally of the BJP has taken Shubh¡¯s side.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)¡¯s MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal comes out in Shubh¡¯s support.
She took to Twitter and wrote, ¡°Singer @Shubhworldwide we stand with you. You don¡¯t need to prove your patriotism because you are a proud son of Punjab and #India. @Akali_Dal_ appeals to fellow countrymen not to fall prey to conspiracies to label Shubh & others who speak for #Punjab as anti-nationals.¡±

Badal¡¯s tweet called for harsh reactions from the netizens.
One user wrote, ¡°Speaking for Punjab and speaking for separation of Punjab are two different things. Anyway, it¡¯s time to sit down l!! Don¡¯t stand for too long.¡± Another said, ¡°Can you explain how sharing a distorted map of India without nine states and UTs is patriotic ???¡± The third one added, ¡°Bewakoof ho Kya?¡±
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring is also standing in Shubh¡¯s support.
One user wrote, "While we at @INCPunjab strongly oppose the idea of Khalistan & have actively fought our battles against anti-national forces, I strongly oppose labelling our youngsters like @Shubhworldwide, who speak for Punjab as anti-nationals. We Punjabis don¡¯t need to give any proof about our nationalism.¡±

¡°This propaganda being pushed by certain forces against Punjabis to undermine us is highly condemnable. Malicious attempts to tarnish our youngsters must be repulsed. Jai Hind! Jai Punjab!¡±
What¡¯s the controversy around Shubh?
Shubh rose to fame with his song 'Still Rollin' and the fiasco began on September 19 when boAt (an electronics brand) withdrew its sponsorship from the singer's upcoming India tour. A day later, BookMyShow cancelled Shubh¡¯s ¡®Still Rollin India tour' after facing a boycott call amid increasing tensions between India and Canada.
All of this started when The 26-year-old shared a map of India on his Instagram story omitting the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and the Northeastern states. He wrote alongside, "Pray for Punjab ''. He later deleted the map and wrote "Pray for Punjab" without any picture.
Singer Shubh later expressed his disappointment after the tour¡¯s cancellation over allegations of supporting Khalistani sympathisers and said that he was "extremely disheartened". ¡°India is MY country too. I was born here. And Punjab is my soul, Punjab is in my blood¡±, he added.
