'I Lost 3 Friends', Kamal Haasan Condoles Death Of Crew In A Freak Accident On 'Indian 2' Sets

"Although seen many accidents but today's accident is horrible. I lost three friends. Rather than my pain, their family has more suffering. My deepest condolences," Kamal Haasan wrote in Tamil on Twitter.

Soon after the incident took place, rumours were rife that director Shankar was also hurt on the sets. While it was being said that he suffered a fracture, the rumours turned out to be baseless later. He was working on the sets but he managed to escape.
However, the director's 19-year-old personal assistant Madhu as well as 34-year-old assistant director Krishna died on the spot.

When Kamal Haasan got to know about it, he rushed to the sets to make sure that rest of the cast as well as the crew were fine. He also made the arrangements for those injured to be taken to the hospital immediately, without a delay.

According to a report on NDTV, the incident took place when the light was being set up. The crane fell on the crew who were at the spot.
"The men were inside the box-like structure on top of the crane when it crashed. It appears they were working on lighting for the shoot. The incident happened at 9:30 pm on Wednesday," a police officer told the publication.
