'I'm Farmer Myself', Suniel Shetty Defends His 'India Against Propaganda' Tweet Post Backlash
Reacting to the backlash he received, Suniel Shetty in his defense said that he is a farmer himself. He said that celebrities from outside of India are trying to defaming India.
Rihanna's tweet that brought global attention to Indian farmers' protest also awakened several Bollywood stars who tweeted in support and against the ongoing agitation in Delhi and around the world against the new farm laws.
While some of the Bollywood stars hailed Rihanna, there were others including Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar and Suniel Shetty among others who urged people not to fall for false propaganda against India.
We must always take a comprehensive view of things, as there is nothing more dangerous than half truth. #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda @hiteshjain33 https://t.co/7rNZ683ZAU

Reacting to the backlash he received, Shetty in his defense said that he is a farmer himself.
"I am supporting the farmers. I'm supporting the government and supporting India. My statement was very very clear to all the celebrities from outside of India defaming us, and giving the wrong picture about what's happening in our country," he told Etimes.
"I'm a farmer myself, my forefathers were farmers. And we should always respect that. The farmers are our backbone. And that is the most important thing, my statement is very, very clear. That doesn't work. And this is to all the celebrities who are trying to comment on our country without really knowing too much about what's going on," he added.
Hashtags like #SpinelessCelebs, #ShameOnBollywood and #AntiNationalBollywood are still trending on Twitter.
