Irrfan Khan's Wife Sutapa Sikdar Says He Was Reluctant To Undergo Chemotherapy Post Diagnosis

One of the lesser known couples in Bollywood were late actor Irrfan Khan and his wife Sutapa Sikdar. Irrfan got married to Sutapa Sikdar in February 1995 and they always kept a low key when it came to their married life.

Sutapa Sikdar recently opened up about not being able to let go of the actor's medical records after his death. She said that she still keeps reading those files and wonders if she had made any mistake after Irrfan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer.

Speaking of Irrfan's initial days of diagnosis, the late Bollywood actor's wife Sutapa Sikdar said that her late husband initially was reluctant to get chemotherapy and instead wanted to live a holistic life to deal with his illness.

Talking about how she has been struggling to cope with her late hubby Irrfan Khan's demise, Sutapa Sikdar said, "I want to protect myself now.

Every night, I still have the whole suitcase and I can't let those medical files go. Every night I would read them again and again thinking 'Did I do something wrong?'¡±

She also revealed that despite Irrfan refusing to have a nurse or anybody else taking care of him, she was by his side 'day, night and evening' during his treatment.

It's been two years since Irrfan Khan passed away due to cancer.

It was during the auditions at National School of Drama for the 1984 batch when Irrfan Khan and Sutapa Sikdar first met.

They were friends for a long time before tying the knot in a simple court marriage in 1995. Maverick actor Irrfan Khan breathed his last on April 29, 2020 at the age of 53. They share two children together.

Moreover, reminiscing about the days with her deceased husband Irrfan Khan, Sutapa Sikdar recently took to Instagram to share how he would nudge her to prepare Khichdi as she didn't know how to cook during their initial days of marriage.

Sharing a picture of a red-coloured cover of a book 'Mrs. Balbir Singh's Indian Cookery,' she wrote, "I could feel the sweat on my forehead ions ago¡­ the aroma of fried onion, which I hated¡­ the Zeenat Aman kind of sleeveless maxie I used to wear to cook¡­ the sound of BEST (Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and& Transport) buses honking through the grills of the kitchen¡­ that lone Tulsi tree¡­ Irrfan entering the kitchen smoking and giving me a puff with a helpless look on his face¡­ 'arre yaar khichri bana lete (You should have just made khichdi)"
