Jaaved Jaaferi Finds Sob Stories On Reality Shows Hard To Believe, Calls Boogie Woogie 'Real'
Jaaved Jaaferi says he finds sob stories on reality shows hard to believe. Furthermore, he called Boogie Woogie the best show that happened in India.
"I was selected in the top 100 but didn¡¯t go any further. Reason: to get selected you need to have a sad story to attract audiences¡¯ sympathy. A few of the contestants lied that their parents aren¡¯t allowing them to dance but the irony was that their parents came to drop them."
This is what Sanya Malhotra had said about dance reality tv show Dance India Dance.
Sonu Nigam who has been a judge on Indian Idol and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa said that highlighting sob stories on reality tv shows was a marketing strategy.
"If they weren¡¯t working (sob stories), it would not be happening so often on reality shows. In the deepest corner of my heart, I feel sob stories are working. It is a marketing thing, and people are not fools."
Many reality shows concentrate more on contestants' emotional backstory rather than their talent. Furthermore, debates around 'are reality shows rigged' or 'do they manipulate emotions' aren't new.

Furthermore, he called, "Boogie Woogie was best show that happened in India".
He told The Indian Express, "There are pros and cons. I personally feel that the biggest pro is that the talent is getting an opportunity, a platform. The cons are that sometimes these shows become too contrived".
He added that reality shows these days don't appear to be real. "It (sob stories) look fake," he said adding that his show Boogie Woogie "was organic, real, from the heart and not scripted."
He added that Boogie Woogie had emotional stories too but they happened naturally. , "It used to be a surprise. Whenever someone would narrate a story, our reactions would come naturally."
"I miss Boogie Woogie. It is the best show that happened in this country. It should come back but unfortunately, it is not in my hand," Jaaved Jaaferi added.
