Kadvi Hawa Is A Scary Reminder Of What The Future Has In Store For Us, Says Lead Actor Ranvir Shorey
Ranvir Shorey plays a ruthless loan recovery agent who fools the farmers to get money. Shorey tells us that his character is heartless and thinks only about himself, even at the cost of others.
Stark, bitter, angst-ridden, and a startling depiction of the real impact of climate change, the trailer of Nila Madhab Panda¡¯s Kadvi Hawa is like a punch in the gut wake-up call. The film stars Ranvir Shorey, Sanjay Mishra and Tillotama Shome.
In an exclusive interview with indiatimes.com, Shorey said, "The film is a scary reminder of what the future has in store for us."
The movie tells the story of a blind farmer, played by Mishra. It shows his helplessness after losing his son, who was driven to suicide by drought and debt. Ranvir Shorey plays a ruthless loan recovery agent who fools the farmers to get money. Shorey tells us that his character is heartless and thinks only about himself, even at the cost of others.
On being asked what made him accept the script, Shorey said,
¡°The script has been written beautifully, and I could not say no to it. It touched my heart. I like working with directors who involve the actors as well and not just run after money. People believe in what they see, so probably a movie can help them understand climate change."
The actors had to undergo a lot of training to perfect the finer nuances of speech unique to that particular region of Odisha.
¡°We use to attend workshops to learn the accent, and to understand how people would have reacted to such situations. It pained our hearts to see how people in that region are living. We also had an assistant from Odisha and he helped us a lot,¡± said Shorey.
When asked about his approach to his craft, he said,
¡°I take every role as a challenge, and my only aim is to give my best so that the audience can feel a connection with the character. I have played comic roles as well as serious roles; but, all I try to do is work hard.¡±
Regarding the impact such films have on society, he said it would definitely help people to at least think about what is happening.
¡°Our aim is not to give a solution to the problem but to address the problem. It is easier for ¡®Bollywood masala¡¯ films to attract the audience and little less easy for movies with a social message, but I feel this movie is not preaching anything. It just shows the reality and is entertaining. The story of a farmer and loan recovery agent in itself is worth watching. It has great drama.¡±
Regarding his career in film, he says he has had his fair share of ups and downs. What motivates him is the support and love of all the fans and audience he has.
¡°I thank all my fans for all the appreciation they give me. Yes, I have seen ups and downs, and I am still continuing to see it. I would ask all my fans to watch ¡®Kadvi Hawa¡¯, not because it will educate them, but it will definitely entertain them,¡± said Shorey.
