Kangana will not only be directing this movie, but she will also star in the lead role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Preparations for the movie have begun as the actress was spotted at the Mumbai airport. She jetted off to Delhi for the recce of Emergency.
It was earlier reported that director Sai Kabir, who worked with Ranaut for her 2014 movie Revolver Rani, will be helming the project. However, later the Dhaakad actress said that she will direct the film herself as she believes that no one can tackle the project better than her.
"Pleased to wear director's hat again, after working on 'Emergency' for more than a year, I finally figured no one can direct it better than me, collaborating with fabulous writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments I am determined to do it," she had written on Koo App.
The National Award-winning actor had earlier clarified that Emergency is not a biopic but a political drama. She said, "It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi. It is a grand period film.
