20 Years Of Kal Ho Naa Ho! Karan Johar Pens An Emotional Note In Tribute For His Dad Yash Johar
As Karan Johar's Kal Ho Naa Ho clocks 20 years, filmmakers pen an emotional note as a tribute to his father Yash Johar.
Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta¡¯s 2003 superhit movie Kal Ho Naa Ho has clocked 20 years and it feels like we watched in theatres just yesterday. This was Karan Johar¡¯s first movie as a producer and that¡¯s how whenever he talks about this romantic drama, he gets emotional.
Karan remembers his late father Yash Johar as Kal Ho Naa Ho turns 20.
Taking to his Instagram, Karan shared a video from the movie and captioned it, ¡°This film has been such an emotional journey for me and perhaps for all of us if I have gathered over the many years. To bring such a stellar star cast together with a story that has a beating heart¡it¡¯s all kudos to the entire cast and team behind the camera for making Kal Ho Naa Ho still beat strong and within everyone¡¯s hearts.¡±
KJo then added, ¡°For me, this was the last film that my father was a part of from the Dharma family¡and it feels surreal to have his presence in every frame as I rewatch it even till today. Thank you, papa, for guiding us through everything & making stories that matter¡and for always standing by what is right. I will always miss you¡¡±
Kal Ho Naa Ho was the directorial debut of Nikkhil Advani who went on to helm films like Salaam-E-Ishq and D-day.
Talking about him, Karan said, ¡°And thank you Nikkhil for making a directorial debut that is etched forever in all our collective hearts.¡± Nikkhil also took to his Instagram and celebrated this milestone. In a long post, he shared, "While Kal Ho Naa Ho has brought so much joy to so many people for a lot of us who got the opportunity to live in the times of Yash Uncle it will always be bittersweet.¡±
Nikkhil Advani talks about the one memory of Kal Ho Naa Ho that will always remain with him for the times to come.
He shared, ¡°Every morning as we would prepare to take the first shot I would look over my shoulder for @karanjohar¡¯s face. This one particular morning when we were shooting Rohit¡¯s (#SaifAliKhan) office he was not there. It felt odd. That afternoon he came to the set and took me aside and as we sat down on the floor of this sprawling office location in Manhattan, he told me that Yash Uncle had been diagnosed with cancer.¡±
¡°I thought he was actually pulling a prank. There used to be a show called ¡°Bakra¡± those days and I thought Cyrus Broacha was going to jump out of some room where they had been filming this prank. It was not to be.¡±
