'Hindi Is No More A National Language', Kiccha Sudeep Kickstarts Language Debate Yet Again
Kiccha Sudeep kickstarted the language debate after he said that Hindi is no more a national language. He was talking about the pan-India and global success of KGF: Chapter 2.
South Indian films are causing havoc at the box office. Bollywood hasn't done that in a long time. When Kiccha Sudeep was talking about the global success of KGF: Chapter 2, he gave a controversial statement kickstarting the old debate on whether Hindi would be termed as the national language or not.
Talking about the roaring success of Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 2, Sudeep said, "You said that a pan India film was made in Kannada. I¡¯d like to make a small correction. Hindi is no more a national language."
He added, "They (Bollywood) are doing pan-India films today. They are struggling (to find success) by dubbing in Telugu and Tamil, but it¡¯s not happening. Today we are making films that are going everywhere."
Kannada Actor @KicchaSudeep said ,"correct it,Hindi is no more the National Language, its no more a National language"!

Hindi was NEVER a national language.
Union of India doesn't have any National Lang. All Indian Languages must have equality, which s what we have to fight for
Article 351, Indian constitution.

Hindi is still the official language and although there are problems with the way hindi film industry right now in some ways, you can not use that against Hindi language. Please behave yourself.
Mr Kiccha from where language topic came here, I can't understand. And worldwide people watch this movie in your local language or language people understand in their area. I don't wanna say much but such things are really disappointingly. Jai HIND

"Hindi is not the national language" fine.....have it your way.....but Kannada, Telugu, Tamil isn't either......if you don't want Hindi then learn Sanskrit..... Sanskrit is mother of all Indian languages. PS: Kgf is just the movie for entertainment.

@KicchaSudeep @aladamara if KGF, Pushpa and RRR were not dubbed in Hindi they wouldn't have crossed 100 crores

Bhaisahab, Hindi was the language to connect the whole of India for independence, & is not native to any particular Indian state, primarily used in the capital region & surrounding areas. Is it ok to converse in a foreign language of our conquerer's rather than speaking Hindi??

This comes after Amit Shah, as quoted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, had said at the 37th meeting of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided that the medium of running the government is the Official Language, and this will definitely increase the importance of Hindi. Now the time has come to make the Official Language an important part of the unity of the country. When citizens of States who speak other languages communicate with each other, it should be in the language of India."
Interestingly, in 2019, during the promotions of his film Pailwan, Kiccha Sudeep had called Hindi the national language of India.
He said so in response to a question asking his opinion on Home Minister Amit Shah's decision to make Hindi the national language of India. At that time, he said, "That's because Hindi is the national language. Everything started from here, hence it always holds more weightage. According to me, there is larger number of people who speak Hindi compared to other languages. Hence, we are giving more preference to the Hindi version."
This had drawn him wrath of pro-Kannadigas who trolled him on social media.
