Konkona Sen Sharma Sheds Light On Industry Being Unfair To Women In 30's, Makes A Strong Point!
2017 has been quite an eventful year for actress turned director Konkona Sensharma. While her film Death In The Gunj opened to rave reviews and garnered praises from the fraternity and cinema lovers, her next film Lipstick Under My Burkha is all set for its much-awaited release.
However, if you look back and trace, Konkona had her handful of big banner films like Wake Up Sid (2009), alongside Ranbir Kapoor, and Luck By Chance (2009), featuring Farhan Akhtar and she aced all her roles.

However, what happened after that reflects the uglier side of our film fraternity. In an interview with Mid-Day Konkona chose to bare her heart out and chose to talk about the big bad side of Hindi Cinema. Talking about industry's indifference towards women in their 30's (And especially towards women who choose to conceive) and why they are treated differently, she said,

"The roles eventually dried up. I didn't get as many interesting roles as I used to. Ek Thi Daayan (2013) was fun and negative, but I stopped getting such offers. None of the leading ladies have children. I feel women-centric stories catch people's fancies only before the actresses have children. Are they becoming redundant after that? Once they become mothers, are their stories uninteresting?"
37-year-old Konkona went on talking about double standards and hypocrisy towards men. She added,

"We hold women to impossible standards. Things that are permissible for male actors are not for the women in cinema."
Somebody had to say it and we are glad Konkona made this point!
