Malaika and Arbaaz's love story is one for the ages but not many people know that it all began with a bold and sensual coffee ad shoot (for MR Coffee) that was so steamy, that it ended up getting banned. The ad from the 90s had both of them sharing some steamy moments as Elvis Presley's hit classing song Can't Help Falling In Love plays in the background. Their sizzling chemistry on screen caught people's fancy. The ad was so bold that it was banned from airing on YouTube. Last year, someone uploaded it on YouTube.
After watching the ad, you would be shocked to know that Arbaaz and Malaika met for the first time on the sets of this TVC shoot. It was love at first sight. "I met Arbaaz for the first time while modelling for the MR coffee ad when I was 18. By the end of the shoot, we were fully in love with each other," Malaika had once revealed.
They were blown away by each other and soon started dating. At first, they only spoke on the phone and didn't meet each other quite often. On her birthday, Malaika decided to visit Arbaaz at his house. When she found out he was sick, she was taken aback. This was the moment when Arbaaz proposed to her with a ring. Talking about the decision to get married, Malaika said, "We both fell in love at the same time. But, I was the one who said that we should get married. Arbaaz did not propose to me."
In an interview with TOI, Malaika Arora had once said, "Even before I had shot the MR coffee ad with him, Amu (Amrita Arora) and I had gone clubbing one night when we saw Arbaaz and his friend Sajid Khan DJing. My sister was nuts about Salman, just like all other girls, as he was a big star even then. But for me, when I saw Arbaaz, I told her, 'You girls like Salman right? I like him. He is my kind of guy."
Arbaaz and Malaika got married on December 12, 1998. After a beautiful church wedding, they had a nikah too. In 2002, they welcomed a baby boy Arhaan into their lives. After 19 years of marriage, Arbaaz and Malaika parted ways. While Arbaaz is now married to Sshura Khan, a makeup artist, Malaika is reportedly dating Arjun Kapoor.
