Bollywood actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar on Tuesday joined the Shiv Sena party. She had unsuccessfully contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket and had been looking to make an exit. For a month, it was her name that popped up by Shiv Sena for one of the 12 nominated seats in the Maharashtra legislative council and now it's finally hers.
During a press conference, Urmila Matondkar was asked whether she would like to comment on actress Kangana Ranaut calling her a 'soft-porn' actress, to which Matondkar did not choose to decline.
"I think much has been spoken on Kangana. No need to give her that much importance now. Everybody has the right and freedom to criticize, she is free to do it. I wish to clear this today that I never responded to her [Kangana] in my interview [earlier],¡± she said.
Immediately after joining the Uddhav Thackeray-led party, Matondkar took a swipe at actress Kangana Ranaut, saying "unnecessary importance" has been given to the latter. Even that comment could have been avoided by the new Shiv Sainik.
We are certain the war of words between the two shall continue, soon.
