At the age of 73, PM Narendra Modi was sworn in for his third term as India's Prime Minister, matching the record set by Jawaharlal Nehru, who was elected as the country's first prime minister in 1952, then 1957, and later in 1962.
On June 9, Prime Minister Modi, along with 72 other members of the new coalition administration, took the oath of office. Among them, 30 were Cabinet Ministers, five held independent charges, and 36 were Ministers of State.
The meteorological office forecasted a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius in the nation's capital, where the swearing-in ceremony took place on the lawns of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The event was attended by leaders from the Indian Ocean region and neighboring countries, including Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, several corporate leaders including Gautam Adani, his brother Rajesh Adani, Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani, and Anand Piramal and many from the Bollywood.

Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister on Sunday for a record-equalling third term, heading a 72-member Union Council of Ministers that put emphasis on continuity, youth and experience while also rewarding partners in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government.
"Leaders who attended the banquet include the President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe; the President of the Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu; the Vice President of Seychelles, Ahmed Afif; the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina; the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and (his spouse) Kobita Jugnauth; the Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda; and the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay," the official statement said.
