Did You Know R Madhavan Rejected Original 'Ghajini' Because He Wasn't Happy With The Second Half?
R Madhavan rejected Suriya starrer Ghajini because he was not happy with the second half. He says he didn't like the story.
The first film to coin the term '100 Crore Club' was Aamir Khan-starrer Ghajini that had released in 2008. The film became the first Indian film to net over Rs 100 crore domestically in India. It was a remake of Tamil film of the same name, which was inspired by 2000 film Memento.
Did you know R Madhavan was the first choice for the original Ghajini starring Suriya, but he rejected the movie because he didn't like the second half?
The actor who is basking in the success of Rocketry: The Nambi Effect revealed the same recently.
"I was offered a film called Ghajini. I didn¡¯t like the story."
R Madhavan added that he didn't particularly like the second half of Ghajini.
"So I told Murugdoss sir that I am not happy with the second half. And that film eventually came to you," he told Suriya during a live session as both of the film stars congratulated each other for their respective recently released movies - Vikram and Rocketry.
R Madhavan went on to praise Suriya for the hard work he had put in for the film.
"I saw what you did in Kaakha Kaakha. So I felt that the film has gone to the right person. And you proved it. Ghajini becoming a hit was a very big thing. But, I also saw how much effort you put in for that. That six-pack, I had then wondered whether I could have done this thing. I remember you telling me that you didn¡¯t eat salt for a week. And that made me question the choices I was making in my career. I felt I was not doing enough justice to my career. And I began following the advice that I gave you. I used you as an example."
After the success of Ghajini, the movie was remade in Hindi. Did you know Asin's character's name Kalpna was inspired by late Indian astronaut Kalpana Chawla? Asin reprised her role in Hindi and won the filmfare award for best actress for her role in the film.
