Ram Gopal Varma Gets Brutally Trolled For His Regressive Tweet On Women Buying Liquor
Women, just like men, drink. We can't believe that in 2020 this simple fact needs to be reiterated for filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma who has posted a regressive tweet mocking women who were patiently standing in a line to buy liquor at a store.

Look who¡¯s in line at the wine shops ..So much for protecting women against drunk men ? pic.twitter.com/ThFLd5vpzd

Why is it such a surprise to find women outside wine shops? It's comical how Ram Gopal Varma was shocked to see women buying alcohol but he's absolutely okay stating that drunk men perpetrate violence against women.
Naturally, Ram Gopal Varma's sexist comments attracted massive outrage on social media and the director was brutally trolled for the same. Singer Sona Mohapatra also responded to his tweet by writing his comment "reeks of sexism".
Dear Mr RGV,time for u to get into the line of people who desperately need a real education.1 that lets u understand why this tweet of yours reeks of sexism & misplaced morality.Women have a right to buy & consume alcohol just like men. No one has a right to be drunk & violent. https://t.co/5AUcTrAJrZ

Mr Varma are you suggesting women who drink should not complain when they face any abuse from men? Sick disgusting logic that can only come from an insecure man

i'm sorry, did you think women don't drink? that's okay. I'll enlighten you. WE DRINK. But we don't go home and abuse our families. because we can handle our drinks and also we understand human rights! :)

Men who sell movies solely by objectifying women say worse things but thanks for your concern.

So basically apko problem aurato ke daaru pine se hai, na ke pitne se!

1st, it's neither illegal nor unethical for women to drink. 2nd & most important, the fact that women drink does not mean they become eligible for abuse by drunk men. Dowry related incidents still occur in India. Will you suggest women to not marry to avert such incidents?

Here goes the misogynist; so if a woman drinks does that make her eligible for harrasment?
¡ª ???????/Salman/????? (@Wanderer_M_S) May 4, 2020
Ohh I don't remember women getting over drunk and beating the crap out of their poor husbands.?

Several women have rightfully pointed out how one tweet by Ram Gopal Varma completely underplays the reality of domestic abuse that many women are victims of. The issue should be telling men to not get violent with women instead of asking women to not drink. Simple logic right?
