Richa Chadha Hits Out At Delhi Restaurant For Refusing Entry To A Woman Wearing A Saree
After Delhi's Aquila restaurant denied entry to a woman saying saree is not a smart outfit, Richa Chadha slammed their snobbery.
Is there a dress code for everything? What happened to the right to exercise choice?
When Neena Gupta wore shorts when she had gone to meet lyricist Gulzar, she was heavily trolled; and so was Priyanka Chopra when she wore a dress to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While we thought that things would improve from here on, seemingly they are getting worse.
A woman recently was denied entry to a Delhi restaurant because she was wearing a saree. Why? Because it's not a "smart outfit".
So, now we are looking down upon Indian traditional clothes and rooting for western clothes.
When this video went viral on social media, it received a lot of flak.
Saree is not allowed in Aquila restaurant as Indian Saree is now not an smart outfit. What is the concrete definition of Smart outfit plz tell me @AmitShah @HardeepSPuri @CPDelhi @NCWIndia

Now, Bollywood actress Richa Chadha has also slammed Delhi's Aquila restaurant.
Sharing the video, Chadha wrote, "This snobbery- denouncing our traditional clothes, looking down upon our own languages is the residue of post-colonisation trauma. It also creates a fertile breeding ground for fascism that exploits this very trauma. The Sari is smart, your policy isn¡¯t! #SariNotSorry #Aquila."

The restaurant, on the other hand, has a different story to tell.
It has accused Anita Choudhary, the woman in question, of slapping the manager when she stopped her from entering the restaurant without any reservation. She was asked to wait at the entrance, she, as per the statement, entered the restaurant and began to fight.
Anita Choudhary has now revealed the screenshot of the reservation.
They are saying, reservation has not done or done for 1pm. again its a big lie from #Aquila .this is the proof. If some one is putting point of Aquila must go though the fact not with the fabricated video. @TimesNow @TNNavbharat @PMishra_Journo @CPDelhi @AmitShah #Sareeisourpride pic.twitter.com/VMvs0pbrmW

After the incident, Zomato issued a statement on the restaurant¡¯s page that read, "This restaurant is receiving a lot of media attention due to recent events. We are monitoring all reviews closely to ensure that they comply with our content guidelines."
