'Want To Do Best, But No Formula Of Success', Salman Khan On South Movies Vs Bollywood Debate

With South films doing phenomenally well at the box office, expectations from Bollywood films are skyrocketing. From R Madhavan to Yami Gautam, many celebrities have opened up about the conversation around South films working better amid a continuous North vs South debate in the film industry at large.

Now, Bollywood's superstar Salman Khan is the latest to voice his opinion on the matter. Salman Khan was recently spotted at a promotional event in Mumbai for the Hindi remake of Kichcha Sudeepa's upcoming Kannada fantasy action-adventure flick Vikrant Rona.

During the event, the Tiger 3 actor said that though every artiste wants to make a good film, there isn't any formula that can guarantee success. Salman Khan, who recently came on board Kichcha Sudeepa's Vikrant Rona to present the film, interacted with the cast during the special event of the film.

"I'm also presenting the film! I have to do this (promotions). I don't want to go into losses... South films are doing really well." the 56-year-old actor said and added, "We all try and make the best film, we want it to reach everyone. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. There's no formula to this, that something will work 100 per cent."

Actor Neetha Ashok said she was taken aback after seeing the superstar sharing the trailer of Vikrant Rona on Twitter. Kiccha also went on to mention that he does not want to say much about this and while a lot of movies are made every year, only some do well.

The actor also mentioned that one cannot generalise and say that the South movies are dominating. He said there are good times for everything giving an example of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli not being in form but that one cannot deny his records in the cricket world.

Earlier, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect director R Madhavan had said, "I think too much of hue and cry is happening. There are three films - RRR, KGF 2 and Pushpa - that did really well. The rest have managed to do a fair job. There are other films (The Kashmir Files and Bhool Bhulaiyaa) in Hindi that have done well. I think people's acceptance has broadened because of the pandemic. They accept films that they like and reject those they don't. That's always going to be there."

South films like Pushpa - The Rise, Yash's KGF Chapter 2 and SS Rajamouli's RRR have emerged as some of the biggest hits, while many Bollywood movies struggled to mint money at the box office. Only a handful of movies like Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi, Anupam Kher starrer The Kashmir Files and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 did really well at the box office lately.

Meanwhile, Kannada actor Kichcha Sudeepa's upcoming fantasy action-adventure Vikrant Rona is slated to hit theatres on July 28, 2022.
