Recently an old video of SRK re-surfaced where, on being asked about his role in DDLJ, Shah Rukh had quite a surprising take.
The BTS video showed Shah Rukh sitting in the back of a truck and giving his piece to the camera. SRK had quoted about his role, ¡°Yeah. It's basically taken from the bourgeoise suppression of the proletariat. Lot of it has been in the verses of Voltaire already,¡± he told the interviewer. The clip in reference was a part of a DDLJ making-of video, shared on YRF film's YouTube channel in 2015. See here:
Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge released in 1995 launched Shah Rukh Khan into a stardom state from where there was no looking back for him. It gave him the evergreen romantic hero image that he is carrying grandly for 25 years now. Directed by Aditya Chopra, DDLJ also starred Kajol, Amrish Puri, Parmeet Sethi, Mandira Bedi and Anupam Kher with Farida Jalal.
