Shaheen Bhatt On Alia Bhatt's Premarital Pregnancy
Alia Bhatt's elder sister Shaheen Bhatt has reacted to the trolls who spewed hate upon her for getting pregnant before her marriage.
Shaheen Bhatt says 'that is her own journey'.
"I will not speak for her because that is her own journey. Anything that she has dealt with internally is completely her journey. Having said that, you can never really please everybody. There is always going to be a negative comment or two out there. And I think living in the public eye, we are all very practiced at knowing what to pay heed to and what not to focus on," she told News 18.
She is excited to welcome the new member of the family.
"Alia is the first among us, siblings, who will be welcoming a baby," she said and added that everyone at home is excited to welcome the little bundle of joy at home.
Dia Mirza who had faced similar trolled when she announced her pregnancy had also slammed the trolls earlier. She said that premarital sex or pregnancy was a personal choice.
"I feel when it comes to personal choice and the power of personal choice, it can only be celebrated by those who ensure they make personal choices, not threatened, not afraid of making the choice that you need to as an individual," she told ETimes.
Dia Mirza had tied the knot with Vaibhav Rekhi in February 2021. In April, she announced that she was pregnant. In May 2021, she welcomed her first child Avyaan.
She added, "And while there may be many people with regressive thoughts on things like premarital sex or premarital pregnancy or any other things for that matter, there are enough people who recognise the fact that it is a personal choice, that people have the right to do if they choose to. I don¡¯t think we are as progressive as we imagine or as we consider ourselves to be."
