As his statement went viral, people started trolling him savagely. "So according to Mukesh Khanna, the people of the state that gave birth to Pathani Samanta and Aaryabhatta aren't smart enough to understand Kalki 2898 AD. What a shame that understanding a film is a benchmark of one's intelligence," one of the users said. "He believes he is no less than the original Bhishma, his whole career was based on a copied fictional character Shaktiman and he behaves like he made that character," said another one.

"I had pointed out two minus points of Kalki movie, one of them is that it has been riddled with facts from Mahabharata. Secondly, its first half is boring and confusing which a common movie goer will not be able to understand which is not in the interest of the film. In this, I was presenting the village dwellers of Bihar and Orissa as examples and telling them that the Hollywood style first half that has been made will go over the heads of many people. The film which is weak. The four and three staff members who went with me to see the incident either did not understand it or they fell asleep. Among them the teens were from Bihar.
