Suchitra Krishnamoorthi slams Orry Culture in Bollywood
Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, the actress best known for her role in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa alongside Shah Rukh Khan, says that's a result of Orry culture spreading like wildfire that highlights prices of the dresses that celebrities like Isha Ambani and Alia Bhatt wear instead of hyping up their achievements. She believes the media should focus on self-made and hardworking people instead of what these celebrities wear.
She said that it has become a "ticketed zoo" and it's dangerous
She realised this after she got in touch with her ex-personal trainer who told her that she takes "loans to buy designer bags so she didn't feel inferior to her celebrity clientelle". Why? Because her son asked her for "photos with her celebrity clientele to post on social media", and for that, she thought designer bags were necessary.
This made her recall a conversation she had with her friend Kaveri at the residence of "one of the wealthiest people in the world and an inspiration to many in the business world", which many believe is Laxmi Mittal. Here's what she wrote.
While a lot of people agreed with "well-written" post and called it "spot on," several others said that she was hypocritical in her claim.
"A great read. And she's spot on. Media is the only one who can so something about all this, but they're happy being paid by these stars to do their deed," a comment read.
Others calling her a hypocrite said, "It¡¯s not like SK was a talent. She married Shekar Kapoor and got her fame. But couldn¡¯t sustain it. She comes across as someone entitled and bitter in most of her interviews."
"This kind of work needs a specific kind of hustle. A Suchitra Krishnamurthi who was a mediocre actress and singer has never had this kind of hustle. The only reason she was able to hobnob with billionaires in London is because she married a famous rich more successful older man," read another comment.
