Swara Bhasker Compares Rahul Gandhi's 'Pappufication' With Bollywood's Ongoing Cancel Culture
Actress Swara Bhasker has compared Rahul Gandhi's 'pappufication' with the ongoing cancel culture in Bollywood.
Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker, who is known to speak her mind on any issue, recently opened up about how the prevailing cancel culture has affected the industry.
The actress, who is all set to be seen in the film, Jahaan Chaar Yaar, has outlined multiple factors which are to be blamed for Bollywood movies not performing well.
Swara Bhaskar said that people's mindset have changed post the pandemic and stated that it's not true that Bollywood is responsible for no shows at the theatres.
She also claimed that OTT platforms have disrupted the watching experience and that the current trend is to spew hate towards Bollywood, which gained momentum especially after the tragic demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
"After the unfortunate and tragic suicide of Sushant, Bollywood has been painted as a really dark place, that is only about drugs and alcohol and sex," Swara Bhaskar said.
The actress also went on to compare politician and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's image with the current state of Bollywood, how people mock him in the country.
"I don't know it's kind of a strange comparison but I am reminded of Rahul Gandhi. Everyone kept calling him pappu, so now everybody believes it. I have met him and he is a perfectly intelligent and articulate man. With Bollywood also, this 'pappufication' has happened," the Veere Di Wedding actor said.
The Ranjhanaa actress also backed acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap's statement when he claimed that due to the 'economic slump' in the country, people are no longer interested to watch Bollywood films at present.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Swara Bhaskar will feature alongside Shikha Talsania, Meher Vij and Pooja Chopra in Jahaan Chaar Yaar. The film revolves around the story of four friends stuck in a rut of hapless monotony.
Their lives have nothing to look forward to until they get a chance to spend a vacation in Goa. The trailer of Jahaan Chaar Yaar was dropped by makers on August 22.
Here's the trailer:
Directed by Kamal Pandey, the film is set to hit theatre screens on September 16, 2022.
