Taapsee Pannu Asks Why Films Show Disclaimer On Drinking Alcohol & Smoking But Not Domestic Violence
Taapsee Pannu wants to shed light on the long-ignored issue of domestic violence. She has supported a changeorg petition to add disclaimers to films that show domestic violence She asked why film showing alcohol consumption and cigarettes come with a disclaimer but movies showing domestic warning dont even have a warning.
It's strange how domestic violence has been normalised in the Indian society. It's even worse is that marital rape isn't criminalised yet.
In the times when movies, if not bringing about a changing the society, are at least starting debates on right issues like homosexuality (Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan), celebrities are contributing to shattering several taboos and changing mindsets of the audiences.
With her next film Thappad, Taapsee Pannu wants to shed light on the long-ignored issue of domestic violence. The Anubhav Sinha directorial preaches the audiences that even one slap shall not be tolerated. "Just a slap par nahi maar sakta"!
"Pata hai uss Thappad se kya hua..uss ek Thappad se naa muje who saari unfair cheezein saaf saaf dikhne lag gayi jisko main andekha karke move karti jaa rahi thi"
Taking the issue forward, now Taapsee has supported a change.org petition to add disclaimers to films that show domestic violence.
She asked why film showing alcohol consumption and cigarettes come with a disclaimer but movies showing domestic warning don't even have a warning.
¡°Kya Thappad pe disclaimer aana bas itni si baat hai? Agar nahi toh petition sign kijiye #Thappad. I support the @ChangeOrg_India petition asking CBFC to make it mandatory for movies depicting violence against women to carry disclaimers," she tweeted.

With the tweet, she shared a video that shows her husband is ranting about something on phone. She observes he is holding a bottle of alcohol. He takes it from him fearing a disclaimer. Then she takes the cigarette from him because of the same reason. Now that her husband raises his hand to hit her, she is seen saying, "Thappad pe disclaimer nahi hai? Oh! Okay, maaro".
As part of the marketting strategy, Taapsee had previously as well featured in a video in which she asked the viewers to report the trailer of the movie as it shows domestic violence. She said such videos should not be on the internet. The video was later taken down.
Thappad, whose trailer has already recieved postive response from the audience, is slated to release on Feb 28.
