A 2016 movie that changed the destiny of many actors as well as changed the way we look at Bollywood is Pink. A small budget movie about 3 girls who fight for their rights and dignity. A movie that can easily be labelled as the best film on social issues. A film that has been shown to Rajasthan police to train them to handle these sensitive issues.

Pink brought about a change not only in cinema but in the society as well. As the movie turns 3 years, actress Taapsee Pannu is elated to be a part of such a project. Here's taking a look at 6 reasons on why the movie still holds an important place in our lives and the lessons it taught us.

1. No means No

It is that small and simple. The movie taught us the meaning of - consent - yes, for even holding hands - consent is important. In the movie, they show how a woman having alcohol can be misconstrued as someone who is easy and can give in to temptations. So, the movie teaches us that it's okay for a woman to have a drink, dance and still not sleep with you because she said NO. Drinking and dancing does not define someone's character.

2. It showed how the most educated areas of a town can be quite judgmental

Basically break the stereotype. The movie is based out of New Delhi and the girls are working in corporate houses. The men are also powerful and know the who's who in politics. However, when it comes to having alcohol, going to their house, they immediately judge the three girls, as 'easy preys.'

The movie shows Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang staying in one house and how they face constant battles and judgmental eyes from their neighbours when they come late from work or come home drunk or have boys at home.

3. It could happen to any one of us - It felt so real and relatable

The story touches the right chord. It's a story of every household. The movie associates with every family, every girl who has faced this situation of being at the receiving end of misbehavior, at some point of their lives.

The idea is to never back off and take a stand when the other person is wrong. Fight for your right and always speak the truth.

4. How a North-east girl was played by her with the same name. A first in Bollywood

The girl who featured as the North East girl (Meghalaya) is actually from that place. Andrea Tariang plays a phenomenal role as someone who faces racial discrimination. Bollywood brings about a change by getting on-board a person who has faced real life issues. She brings it to light and and that makes the makers' efforts extremely commendable.

5. Brilliant courtroom drama around gender bias-ness

One of the finest courtroom dramas where Amitabh Bachchan plays a fine lawyer aggressively fighting a case for three women who are just honest and true. Pink revolves around chilling and interesting arguments and how Big B puts very simple yet important points across.

6 We saw Taapsee's career graph take off and her potential as an actor

Thank you, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and Shoojit Sircar for giving us an outstanding actress. The career graph since then has only been soaring high. Taapsee was recognised as a serious actress. Not just her, even Kirti Kulhari's work also kickstarted post the hit film.

The movie completed 50 days in the theatre. The film received widespread critical acclaim, and garnered the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues.
