¡°My Heart¡±: Internet Melts Over Bomman & Bellie Holding Their Oscars Of The Elephant Whisperers

India made the world celebrate one of the most vulnerable stories of the mahouts. Kartiki Gonsalves directorial The Elephant Whisperers brought home an Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film at the 95th Academy Awards. Produced by Guneet Monga, the story has been inspired by the life of a couple named Bomman and Bellie.

Recently Kartiki returned to India and flew to meet the people who helped her script this history.

Bomman and Bellie who are away from social media didn¡¯t even know what the Oscars was but sudden global attention has made their hearts swell with pride. In a picture that Kartiki shared on her Instagram, the tribal couple can be seen holding the Oscars with ¡®what an adorable bright smile¡¯. Have a look:-

While captioning the heartwarming picture, Kartiki wrote, ¡°It¡¯s been a long four months since we¡¯ve been apart and now I feel like I¡¯m home¡­..¡±. Just 2 days back, Kartiki was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 crore by MK Stalin.

Sharing a picture of the same, TN CM wrote in Tamil, ¡°Appreciation of The Elephant Whisperers Director @kartikigonsalves who grew up in Ooty and took our Tamil Nadu Government's elephant protection efforts to Academy Awards as a bonus of Rs. 1 crore was given. Appreciation for making the hard work of many unknown people known through their creativity!¡±

Gonsalves smiled brightly alongside Guneet on the Oscars stage and said, ¡°I stand here today to speak on the sacred bond between us and our natural world. For the respect of indigenous communities. For entity towards other living beings, we share our space with. And finally for co-existence. Thank you to the academy for recognising our film highlighting indigenous people and animals.¡±
