'Excellent Gesture', Internet Reacts To TN CM Giving 1 Lakh To The Real Elephant Whisperers
Tamil Nadu CM gives 1 lakh rupees each to the couple who inspired Oscar-winning The Elephant Whisperers; gives aid to other mahouts.
The Documentary ¡®The Elephant Whisperers¡¯ has not just won an Oscar but has unveiled the struggles of Indian mahouts. The couple Bomman and Bellie who inspired the Kartiki Gonsalves directorial are now getting the due appreciation for their deeds which they did selflessly for ages without expecting such a feat.

With an increased number of footsteps at the elephant camp, now the couple has been honoured by the Telangana CM MK Stalin.
Sharing a picture of the same, CM Stalin wrote, ¡°#TheElephantWhisperers #AcademyAwards and has made our forestry operations globally known. In appreciation of Bomman and Bellie, I gave Rs. 1 lakh and announced Rs. 1 lakh each to 91 workers of Theppakkad & Kozhikamuthi Elephant Camps and Rs. 9.10 crore for building houses.¡±

The 40-minute-long heartwarming tale is Guneet Monga¡¯s production and won Best Documentary Short Film at the 95th Academy Awards. The film is available to watch on Netflix and competed with Haulout, How Do You Measure A Year, The Martha Mitchell Effect, and Stranger At The Gate at the Oscars.
