On Neelesh Misra's Slow Interview series, Vikas Divyakirti joined the list of celebrities who criticised Animal, and said the film shouldn't have been made. "A film like Animal takes our society back by 10 years," he said and added, "You earned money. You showed that your hero behaves like an animal. There should be some social value, or are people working only for financial value?"
Vikas Divyakirti slams lick-my-shoe scene in Animal
Divyakirti bashed the highly controversial scene from Animal in which Ranbir's character Ranvijay asks Zoya Ahmed (played by Triptii Dimri) to lick his shoes to prove her love for him. Divyakirti said such scenes can wrongfully inspire the youth. "After watching the film, what if some boys who are of a feudal mindset and are not that mature want to test their girlfriend¡¯s love by asking them to lick their shoe, what then? Itni fuhad aur badtameez film hum bana rahein hai then it is very sad (It is sad when we make such careless and mean-spirited films) but both kind of forces are always there in the world."

Reacting to Vikas Divyakirti's statement about Animal, fans said he only stated facts.
"No lies there! He¡¯s stating nothing but facts," one of the Reddit users said. Another user commented, "What people ignore is that behind all the facade of being a controversial film, there is absolutely zero semblance of a script or screenplay in the movie. It's just a bunch of random scenes stiched together for maximum shock value. Also, people praising Ranbir Kapoor for his acting performance need to watch more films. He was either shrieking at the top of his voice or playing himself. Animal needs to be criticised for its lack of merits and the fact that Indian audience will not only accept but celebrate mediocrity if packaged well."
Before Vikas Divyakirti, celebrities including Kirron Rao, Javed Akhtar and Swanand Kirkire has criticised Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal.
