From Javed Akhtar To Kiran Rao, 5 Times Sandeep Reddy Vanga Slammed Those Criticising Animal
From Kiran Rao to Javed Akhtar, here are five times when Sandeep Reddy Vanga unapologetically slammed everyone who criticised his film Animal and called it misogynistic.
Be it Kabir Singh or Animal, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has amassed massive criticism for his films, but the director stands by his choices unapologetically. He has often come out in defense and slammed those taking a dig at his films and calling them misogynistic. Here are 5 times he rip apart people, celebrities, critics and even audiences who had problems with his recently released movie Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri and Bobby Deol among others.
5 Times Sandeep Reddy Vanga Slammed Those Criticising Animal
1. Kiran Rao
After Kiran Rao slammed Sandeep Reddy Vanga for normalising stalking and misogyny in his films, Sandeep Reddy Vanga hit back at her by remaining her of Aamir Khan's movies and songs. He said, "I think she doesn¡¯t understand the difference between stalking and approaching."
Aamir Khan's ex wife Kiran Rao said #SandeepReddyVanga films promote misogyny. Now Vanga exposed her & Aamir. He said, "Jaake Aamir khan se pucho, Toh khambhe jaisi khadi hai ladki hai ya fuljhadi h (Dil movie reference) Then comeback to me"? pic.twitter.com/GG6hGGLoE4

He added, "Main kehna chahunga uss aurat ko ki jaake Aamir Khan ko pucho Khambe jaisi khadi hai, Ladki hai ya fuljari hai woh kya tha? Then come back to me. If you remember Dil, almost rape attempt tak leke jaake usko ehsaas jatata hai ki isne galat kiya. Aur usko pyar ho jata hai. Yeh sab kya hai? (I would like to say to that woman, 'Go ask Aamir Khan, 'Is she like a pillar, a girl, or a firecracker?' What was that?' Then come back to me. If you remember Dil, he almost creates the situation towards an attempted rape, and it makes her realise that she was wrong. She ultimately falls in love. What is all this?) I don¡¯t understand why they attack like that before checking the surroundings."
2. Javed Akhtar
After Javed Akhtar expressed concern about films like Animal succeeding at the box office, the makers of Animal slammed him via their official Twitter handle and wrote, "Writer of your calibre cannot understand the betrayal of a lover (Between Zoya & Ranvijay) then all your art form is big FALSE & If a woman (betrayed and fooled by a man in the name of love) would have said ¡°lick my shoe¡± then you guys would have celebrated it by calling it feminism. Let love be free from the politics of gender. Let¡¯s just call them lovers. LOVER cheated and lied. LOVER said lick my shoe. Period @Javedakhtarjadu."
Akhar had called the film dangerous at the 9th Ajanta-Ellora International Film Festival, "If there's a film in which a man asks a woman to lick his shoe or if a man says it¡¯s okay to slap a woman... and the film is a super hit, that¡¯s dangerous. Nowadays, I feel that more responsibility is on the audiences than filmmakers. The audiences have to decide what movies they like and what they don¡¯t like. It is entirely up to the audiences to decide what to reject. The ball is currently in the audiences¡¯ court. Even today, there are as many filmmakers making good movies, but only a few. The fate of cinema depends on how long you stand with them."
Sandeep Reddy Vanga slams Javed Akhtar
Now, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has also slammed Javed Akhtar asking him if he told the same thing to his son Farhan Akhtar for producing Mirzapur. The director said, "One thing is clear that he (Akhtar) didn¡¯t see the film. That¡¯s very clear in the comment that he didn¡¯t see the entire film. Abhi koi picture bina dekhe baat karta hai toh unke baare mein kya baat kare¡ Vo jo bhi ho, regular critic ho or best of the writers in the world¡"
Vanga added, "Did he tell the same thing to Farhan Akhtar when he was producing Mirzapur? Pura duniya bhar mein jitna gaaliyan hai wo Mirzapur ek show mein hai ¨C It was full of cuss words. I have not seen the full show. I saw also around 15 scenes and when you see those scene in Telugu, you will really feel like puking. Why is he not checking his son¡¯s work?"
3. Swanand Kirkire
Slamming the National Award-winning lyricist, the team of Animal via their official Twitter handle wrote, "Do not let your knees fall ahead of your toes or cave in towards each other. Keep feet shoulder-width apart to maintain a good base of support for balance. Land softly on the balls of the feet to help absorb the force of the landing. Yes.... now it landed perfectly (flying kiss emoticon) @swanandkirkire." Here's what Sawanand Kirkire said about Animal.
4. Critics
Slamming the critics who gave negative reviews to his film, Vanga called them illiterate and uneducated. He said, "You think because of Rajeev Masand, Anupama Chopra and that Tyagi girl's (Suchitra Tyagi) review I got the first day opening? It's because of the craft, nobody speaks about the craft or the sound and design because they are literally illiterate and uneducated when it comes to films... They have no sense to criticise a film or review a film. They only see the sensitive part of the film and speak. If at all you want to sit with them and talk face-to-face, they don't have the guts."
Vanga disagreed that characters like Kabir Singh, Arjun Reddy and Ranvijay Singh in his movies are misogynistic and added, "I don't know why these 15-20 jokers do."
5. Audience
For everyone else who called his film misogynistic, Sandeep Reddy Vanga told Daniki Bhasker, "People are accustomed to a hero giving a lecture in the climax. He should accept on the screen that what he did was wrong, that is when people get satisfied. They wanted Kabir to accept that he was wrong and that he should not have gotten Preeti. In Animal too, there were so many consequences, the father is going to die, his wife will be leaving him, his health is gone for a toss. Aur kya chahiye, maar dun hero ko climax mein? (What else do you want? Do you want me to kill the hero in the climax?)".
