In a shocking turn of events, Kannada film director Guruprasad passed away by suicide at the age of 52. His body was reportedly found hanging and decomposed in his Bengaluru¡¯s Madanayakanahalli apartment. The time, date and circumstances of his demise are still under investigation.
The news came to light after several neighbours of Guruprasad altered police after detecting a foul smell coming from his house, as reported by Asianet News. Authorities then found the filmmaker hanging from a ceiling fan and suggested that he might have passed away several days prior considering his decomposed state.
The same reports even allege that there are chances that Guruprasad was indebted to creditors and recently faced allegations related to unpaid purchases. Investigation is underway and police are yet to make any official statement.
Who is Guruprasad?
Born on November 2, 1972, Guruprasad made his directorial debut with the 2006 film Mata which became a cult hit. His second film was Eddelu Manjunatha (2009) which went on to win the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Screenplay. He also directed several successful projects like Director's Special, Eradane Sala, and Ranganayaka. His upcoming film Ademma remains under filming.
Guruprasad¡¯s television stint was also of a great run. He judged shows like Thaka Dhimi Tha Dancing Star, Putani Pantru Season 2, Dance Karnataka Dance, Barjari Comedy and was even a wildcard contestant on Bigg Boss Kannada 2. He who recently remarried also worked as a dialogue writer on projects like Hudugaru, Whistle, and Super Ranga.
The veteran artist also worked as an actor in several movies like Mata, Eddelu Manjunatha, Mylari, Kal Manja, Hudugaru, Director's Special, Whistle, Karodpathi, Jigarthanda, Ananthu Vs Nusrath, Kushka, Badava Rascal, Body God, and Mata.
