It was 11 years ago, when Robert Downey Jr. had taken the risk to play the dual role of sorts of a civilian and also a costumed fighter in the Marvel's first self-financed and produced feature film. And with that, he made his presence felt in the Hollywood stratosphere yet again.

But do you think he deserves an Oscar for his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, director Joe Russo thinks so. They¡¯re convinced he is worthy.
¡°His cumulative body of work from these movies is staggering. If you look at the work over just even the last four [Marvel] films he's done, it's phenomenal. .?.?. He deserves an Oscar perhaps more than anyone in the last 40 years because of the way that he has motivated popular culture,¡± he said while speaking to Washington Post.
But Russo is not alone to think Robert Downey Jr deserves an Oscar. Marvel fans are already campaigning for Robert Downey Jr to get an Oscar for Avengers: Endgame.
Superhero films aren¡¯t known to win Oscars. Black Panther was, in fact, the first superhero film to get Best Picture Oscar nomination. It didn¡¯t win the Best Picture award, but bagged first ever Academy Award for Marvel by winning two trophies last year.
