After toxic-workplace allegations surfaced against popular American television host Ellen DeGeneres, many predicted there won't be an 18th season of her hit show.
However, after proper investigation and rectification of policies and practices at the sets of the Ellen DeGeneres show, the host is back on US television that began with a humble apology where she took full responsibility for creating an unhealthy work environment.
In what is being hailed as a heartfelt apology, Ellen DeGeneres began her address to her audience by taking full responsibility for what happened. She also spoke about how she should have used her power and influence in bringing about the desired change much sooner.
¡°As you may have heard this summer, there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show. And then there was an investigation. I learned that things happen here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously. And I want to say, I am so sorry to the people who were affected. I know that I¡¯m in a position of privilege and power. And I realized that with that comes responsibility, and I take responsibility for what happens at my show," said Ellen DeGeneres.
For those who might not know, former employees of Ellen DeGeneres reported that they have been victims of ¡°racism, fear and intimidation¡± on the sets. Some even claimed that they were fired upon returning from their sanctioned and approved medical treatments or medical leaves.
However, this apology by Ellen DeGenres did not seem legit to most people. Some even said that it would have sounded more sincere, more real if fake clapping sounds and jokes were not a part of it.
Fans have mixed reactions to it:
The most important part of an apology is never the apology...

It¡¯s what happens after.
Give Ellen chance to prove she¡¯s a woman of word before jumping all over her and deciding what she said wasn¡¯t good enough.
