Oscars 2025: Fans had high hopes from Priyanka Chopra and Guneet Monga-backed Anuja but the movie failed to win the Academy Award this year. The award in the Live-Action Short Film was taken away by I'm Not a Robot.
Despite everyone's great expectations, the documentary Anuja did win at the 2025 Oscars. Many fans are outraged over this, claiming that it should have won an Oscar. I'm Not a Robot won the award for the live-action short instead of Anuja. The film Anuja, which is directed by Adam J. Graves, centers around a young girl named Anuja (played by Sajda Pathan) and her sister Palak (played by Ananya Shanbhag) who work in a Delhi apparel factory. The two sisters find it hard to make ends meet as orphans but a smile never leaves their face. They are then met with a decision to make that could turn their life upside down.

Victoria Warmerdam is a writer and director of the 2023 short science fiction film I'm Not a Robot, which is in Dutch. The movie follows Lara as she enters an odd new universe following a string of unsuccessful CAPTCHA tests. Ellen Parren stars as Lara, alongside Henry van Loon as Dani?l and Thekla Reuten as Pam. Juliette van Ardenne plays Collega, while Asma El Mouden takes on the role of Saar. Sophie H?ppener completes the cast as Sollicitant Billy.
