Quentin Tarantino To Retire After His Next Film, Says He Almost Made 'Reservoir Dogs' Reboot
Quentin Tarantino reiterated his plan to retire after the next film, noting that he has even considered making his swan song a reboot of 'Reservoir Dogs'.
Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino made a special appearance on 'Real Time with Bill Maher,' and he opened up like never before about his retirement plans. The filmmaker made it clear that he is prepared to retire after the next film.
According to Deadline, Maher quizzed the filmmaker on why he intends to quit when he is still in his prime.
Responding to the question, Tarantino said, "That's kind of a 'capture time in a moment' kind of thing,"
Tarantino had clarified it in the very beginning that he would call it quits after his 10th movie. Reinstating the same, he added,
¡°I know film history, and from here on in, directors do not get better. I still have another one to go. I don¡¯t have a reason that I would want to say out loud that¡¯s going to win any argument in a court of public opinion or Supreme Court or anything like that. At the same time, working for 30 years doing as many movies as I¡¯ve done, not as many as other people, that¡¯s a long career. That¡¯s a really long career. And I¡¯ve given it everything I have. Every single solitary thing I have.¡±
While Tarantino hasn¡¯t announced what his final film will be, he did admit that he had once considered a reboot of his 1992 feature directing debut Reservoir Dogs as his swan song.
He chuckled and said, "I won't do it, internet. But I considered it."
Listen to his interesting conversation here:
Tarantino, who definitely sounded committed to his plan of retiring, added, "I know film history, and from here on in, filmmakers do not get better. Don Siegel - if he had quit his career in 1979, when he did Escape from Alcatraz, what a final film! What a mic drop. But he dribbles away with two more other ones, he doesn't mean it."
Quentin Tarantino¡¯s Friday night visit to ¡°Real Time with Bill Maher¡± was majorly to promote the forthcoming release of the novel version of his film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
