James conveyed his profound grief, saying he feels as though "a part of myself has been torn away." For over three decades, James and Landau were inseparable collaborators in the film industry, having collaborated on iconic projects like Titanic and the Avatar series.

As per the official page of Avatar, James Cameron said in a statement, ¡°The Avatar family grieves the loss of our friend and leader, Jon Landau. His zany humor, personal magnetism, great generosity of spirit and fierce will have held the center of our Avatar universe for almost two decades. His legacy is not just the films he produced, but the personal example he set ¡ª indomitable, caring, inclusive, tireless, insightful and utterly unique.¡±
Adding further, he said that Landau inspired everyone to bring their best. James added, ¡°He produced great films, not by wielding power but by spreading warmth and the joy of making cinema. He inspired us all to be and to bring our best, every day.I have lost a dear friend, and my closest collaborator of 31 years. A part of myself has been torn away.¡±

Internet pays tribute Jon Landau
Fans all over the world were heartbroken about the passing away of Jon Landau. They took to social media and mourned the loss as soon as they got to know about the loss.

For the unversed, as per IANS, James and Landau first worked together thirty years ago when Landau handled Cameron's 1994 action comedy True Lies, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, while working as a film producer at 20th Century Fox.
