Kriti Kharbanda Believes In Looking At The Bright Side, Says Only Actresses Can Bring Glamour
Kriti Kharbanda also talks about Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se Debacle.
Kriti Kharbanda is slowly carving a path for herself in the Hindi film industry. The actress who is a big name down south says that she feels homely and welcomed in Bollywood. Her game changer film was Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana opposite Rajkummar Rao. She bagged a lot of praises and appreciation for this film.
Just a while back, she surprised us with her five-minute cameo in Dulquer Salmaan and Irrfan Khan¡¯s Karwaan. Her last release was Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se which didn¡¯t receive a positive response, but her performance was praised. Indiatimes had a conversation with the actress where she spoke about Yamla Pagla Deewana debacle to Bollywood being a male dominated industry. Read on.
Yamla Pagla Deewana Debacle
First things first, we asked her about the negative response YPD Phir Se is receiving, she said, ¡° It doesn¡¯t make a difference to me personally, but yes we all worked hard in the film. Whether the audiences like it or not that¡¯s not in my control. If there are complaints about my acting then I will take it with a pinch of salt and work hard on it.¡±
Said Yes To Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se For Deol Family
"I said yes to the film because it was Deol family, but I was very clear - until I hear the script I will not be on board because that¡¯s my right as an actress."
My Game Changer Was Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana
"My game changer in Bollywood was Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana. A lot of things have changed after that. From David sir (Dhawan) to Sajid Nadiadwala, everyone spoke about my character and performance. In fact, Nadiadwala sir often tells me he took me in Houseful 4 because he loved me in Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana and that makes me very happy. Also matching the skills of powerhouse actor Rajkummar was another level of challenge."
Stop Complaining That Bollywood Is Male Dominated
"Everything depends on the script. Also, I believe a man can do action which even we can do but unfortunately, they can¡¯t bring the kind of glamour that we do. If I walk onscreen wearing a gorgeous outfit or in bikini attire whatever, I know that being an actress and a female actor only I can bring the glamour which no man can and I am proud of this. I believe we can have powerful characters - we should get to do more important roles, I get all of it but I am also positive that what I can bring, no man can. Why look at the negative side and cry about it? Why can¡¯t we be happy about what we have, and hopefully someday we will do a different kind of cinema but as of now let¡¯s enjoy and make the best of it?"
Want To Do A Negative Role Like Urmila Matondkar's Ek Haseena Thi
"I want to do something negative. There is a film of Urmila Matondkar with Saif Ali Khan (Ek Haseena Thi). I loved Urmila¡¯s character - that is the coolest film I have seen, I hope at some point I can do something like that.
We are sure the actress will pull off the negative character like a boss. Agree?
