Nithya Menen was to play Jayalalithaa in The Iron Lady. However, the film did not happen. In a recent interview, the actress revealed that he lost interest in the project after Kangana RanautĄ¯s Thalaiviii.
Nithya Menen is one of the biggest names in Tamil cinema. The actress enjoys a strong fan following because of her powerful performances and striking screen presence. Some time ago, it was announced that she would play J Jayalalithaa in a film based on her life and this created a buzz in the industry. However, the project soon went into limbo. The actress has now revealed the reason the film did not take off.
Nithya Menen on why The Iron Lady did not happen
In 2019, Nithya Menen teamed up with director Priyadhaarshini for The Iron Lady. The film was to feature her as J Jayalalithaa and focus on the former Tamil Nadu Chief MinisterĄ¯s life. However, The Iron Lady failed to take off.
In a new interview with Vikatan, the Mersal actress said that she discussed the matter with the makers but lost interest in the project after Kangana RanautĄ¯s Thalaivii hit the screens. She added that Ramya KrishnanĄ¯s Queen, a web series about the mass leader, also made her decide against doing the biopic.
Ą°We discussed it but then the biopic was made in Hindi as Thalaivii. So I was like what is the point? It is repetitive. My after wanted me to still do it. However, there was a web series and a film so I felt it would be repetitive,Ąą said Nithya.
In case you did not know, Thalaivii was one of the most talked about films of 2021. It featured Kangana Ranaut in the lead and marked her first collaboration with AL Vijay. The biographical drama opened to a lukewarm response at the box office.
Busy time for Nithya
