The film has now completed its run and its box office verdict is out. The film is an average grosser and not an outright flop. Identity is a thriller, directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan.
Identity fails to emerge as a hit
Tovino Thomas¡¯ Identity, which hit the screens on January 2, created a fair deal of buzz among fans as it was Mollywood¡¯s first release of the year. It also received rave reviews with critics lauding the performances and screenplay. Despite this, the thriller hasn¡¯t lived up to expectations at the box office.
According to Manaobala Vijayabalan, a trade analyst, Identity grossed Rs 18.5 crore worldwide during its run and ended up being an ¡®average¡¯ performer.
¡°Identity has collected just ?18.5 cr globally. It's not a huge flop venture, an average outing at the box office,¡± he told Indiatimes.
Identity was shot on a budget of Rs 12 crore. The film made a decent impact at the box office in the first week, collecting nearly Rs 8.8 crore (nett) in India. It, however, slowed down in the second week because of competition for Rekhachithram and the other Pongal releases.

Identity is a thriller, directed by Anas Khan and Akhil Paul. It centres on a sketch artist who teams up with his girlfriend and cop to investigate a murder. They soon realise that the case is murkier than expected. The cast is headlined by Tovino Thomas, Trisha, and Vinay Rai. This is Trisha¡¯s second Malayalam film after Hey Jude.
