Veteran actor Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai late on Monday. According to media reports, the 73-year-old is likely to undergo an elective procedure on Tuesday. Rajinikanth's parents

Rajinikanth was born Shivaji Rao Gaikwad on 12 December 1950 to a Marathi Hindu family in Karnataka. His mother, Jijabal Shahaji Bhosale was a homemaker, while his father Ramoji Rao Gaekwad was a police constable. According to reports, the superstar also has an adopted father. The report revealed that the actor adopted Mr Palam Kalayanasundaram, who gave all his earned money to charity in 2012, as his father.

Rajinikanth tied the knot with Latha on 26 February 1981 at Tirupati. She is the sister-in-law of Tamil playwright and film actor Y Gee Mahendran and is also related to former film actress Vyjayanthimala. A professional playback singer, Latha is also a producer, having produced films, Maaveeran and Valli, both starring Rajinikanth.

About Aishwarya Rajinikanth
