The release of Punjab '95 has been delayed again, primarily due to conflicts with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The CBFC has reportedly demanded nearly 120 edits to the movie.
Jaswant Singh Khalra's wife, Paramjit Kaur Khalra, strongly opposes these changes. She insists that the film should remain untouched to preserve the integrity of her late husband's story.

Jaswant Singh Khalra was a prominent human rights activist from Punjab, India, known for his fearless work in uncovering human rights abuses during the counter-insurgency operations in Punjab in the 1980s and 1990s.
Khalra's investigative efforts revealed that the Punjab Police had been involved in widespread illegal detentions, extrajudicial killings, and secret cremations, with thousands of unidentified bodies being disposed of without proper records.
His groundbreaking research and activism exposed the disappearance of over 25,000 people, including suspected militants and innocents, during this period. Khalra's findings drew international attention to the human rights violations in Punjab, but they also made him a target of the authorities.
