Sona Mohapatra Thanks Supporters After Anu Malik Opts Out Of Indian Idol, Says She'll Finally Sleep Well
Since the time Anu Malik has been brought back on Indian Idol as a judge, Sona Mohapatra has been expressing disappointment on Twitter. 'It takes only a Nirbhaya level tragedy for #India to wake up?' she had asked in a Tweet. Following which, Neha Bhasin also accused the music composer of sexual misconduct. But he still remained at his position on the Sony TV show.

Yesterday, Anu Malik voluntarily stepped down from the reality TV show. This comes after Sona Mohapatra's repetitive tweets and an open letter to Smriti Irani.
Smriti Irani recently stated that the government has started listing sexual offenders in a digital databsed in order to help the instituations to do a data check before they hire people. Responding to this, Sona Mohaptra had tweeted to Irani and highighted that Sony TV still has Anu Malik on their show despite several sexual harassment allegations against him. National Commission of Women (NCW) noticed her tweet and shot a letter to the channel.
Sona thinks her writing to Smriti Irani was the final nail, she told Mid-Day. "In deciding to reinstate a multiple accused sexual offender as a judge on TV, the message that was being put out was that the safety and dignity of women does not matter. It was telling other perverts in society that they too can get away with such behaviour. But this victory is for all of us to celebrate. I believe my letter to Smriti Irani was the final nail."

Happy about Anu Malik's decision to step down from Indian Idol, Sona Mohaptra thanked her supporters to make it possible. She said that she would finally sleep well now.
"Thank you to all the women & men & the media of India who supported our campaign #MoveOutMalik . A repeat offender like Anu Malik on national tv triggered a lot of trauma, pain & stress in many of our lives. I have been ill for a while & I hope to sleep well tonight," she wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Anu Malik told Bombay Times that he will only resume work after three weeks when his name will be cleared off from all the #MeToo allegations. He also said that he has written a letter to Music Composers Association of India (MCAI) regarding his stand on the issue. "I have requested them to forward my letter to the Singers Association of India (SAI), asking them to come and explain themselves," he stated.
