Mohanlal will soon be seen in L2 Empuraan, which is slated to hit the screens on March 27. The film is a crucial release for the veteran as he is going through a challenging phase on the work front. Most of his recent films, barring Neru, has tanked at the box office and he needs a hit to prove that he is still a force to reckon with. L2 Empuraan has created a decent amount of buzz in Kerala. However, things are not looking too promising in the Hindi belt.
L2 Empuraan fails to generate buzz in Hindi
L2 Empuraan is one of the biggest Malayalam films of the year. It has reportedly been shot on a budget of nearly Rs 400 crore, which makes it a potential game-changer for the industry. Given the high production costs, it needs to do well in Hindi to emerge as a success. This, however, may not be an easy task.
According to Rohit Jaiswal, a trade analyst and critic, there is ¡®no buzz¡¯ around L2 Empuraan in Hindi.
¡°There is no marketing, which has led to lack of awareness. Why would anyone go to watch the film if there is no awareness to begin with,¡± he told Indiatimes
L2, unlike Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan¡¯s Kalki 2898 AD, does not feature any known names from Bollywood. However, Rohit feels this is not one of the reasons behind the lack of interest in the film in Hindi.
¡°Nowadays, a Bollywood connection is not really needed to help a South film gain visibility. However, you need to promote the film. I have seen a new trend these days that they release a poster and then the film is out. Aaj ke din mein aisa nahi chalenga (You can¡¯t do this these days),¡± he added.
The Allu Arjun-led Pushpa and Rishab Shetty¡¯s Kannada blockbuster Kantara are two films that found tremendous success in Hindi despite the absence of Bollywood stars.

L2 Empuraan is an action thriller directed by Prithviraj. It is a sequel to Lucifer (2019) and centres on a godfather-like protagonist¡¯s rise. The film features Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, and Manju Warrier. Its screenplay is penned by Murali Gopy.
L2 Empuraan is set to open in theatres on March 27.
