During the promotions of Kanguva, Suriya opened up about potentially returning to Bollywood - nearly 14 years after Rakht Charitra 2 - and confirmed that he is in talks with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for the mythological drama Karna.
Suriya is gearing up for the release of Kanguva, one of the biggest films of his career. The fantasy drama has created a great deal of buzz among fans as it features ¡®Nadippin Nayakan¡¯ in two distinct avatars and marks his first collaboration with Siva, best known for directing Siruthai and Vedalam.
During the promotions of Kanguva, Suriya opened up about potentially returning to Bollywood - nearly 14 years after Rakht Charitra 2 - and confirmed that he is in talks with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for the mythological drama Karna.
Suriya opens up about potentially returning to Bollywood with Karna
Suriya is set to enthrall the audience with his performance in Kanguva, slated to hit the screens in multiple languages on Thursday (November 14). While promoting the film in Mumbai, the Singam star confirmed that he is in talks to play the lead role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra¡¯s Karna. He, however, added that nothing is set in stone as it will take a while for the film to go on the floors.
¡°We definitely had a meeting. We are still discussing it. It¡¯s a film that requires a lot of time and preparation, so it¡¯s in process. I¡¯m hoping that one day, we can start production,¡± he said.
If things work out, Karna will be Suriya¡¯s second Hindi film. The actor made his Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma¡¯s Rakta Charitra 2, which hit the screens in 2010 and received mixed reviews. After the film¡¯s release, Suriya decided to stay away from Hindi cinema to concentrate on his Kollywood career. Nearly a decade later, his critically-acclaimed legal drama Jai Bhim (2021) released in multiple languages and compelled the Hindi audience to take note of his abilities. Similarly, Soorarai Pottru (2020) was remade in Hindi as Sarfira with Akshay Kumar in the lead.
