In 1977, Rajinikanth added a new dimension to his career with Sahodarara Savaal, his first colour film. The Kannada drama was directed by KSR Das and saw Rajinikanth share screen space with Vishnuvardhan. After this, Rajinikanth consolidated his standing in Tamil cinema with blockbusters such as Billa, Thee, Thillu Mullu, and Muthu.
